The difference
Vesuvio vs Fusilli
Both are spiraled shapes that trap a chunky sauce, but fusilli is an even corkscrew, a strand wound into a regular helix, while vesuvio is a peaked cone that swirls up from a wide base to a point like the volcano it is named for. Fusilli's spiral runs the length of a short strand, vesuvio's cavity sits inside a standing peak. Vesuvio holds more sauce in its hollow.
