Pasta Almanac

About

There are three to four hundred recognized pasta shapes. The canonical reference is a print book. Online, nearly every pasta shape guide is published by a company selling pasta. Pasta Almanac is the independent alternative: neutral, comprehensive, and built like a reference, because it is one.

We treat pasta as industrial design you can eat. Every shape gets an original illustration checked against the real thing, sourced dimensions, the physics of its sauce affinity, a history that separates record from legend, and the names it carries from region to region.

What we are not: a recipe site, a brand blog, or an affiliate farm in an editorial costume. Recipes appear only as pointers to the classic plates. Nothing here is sponsored.

Sourcing rules and the measurement process live on the methodology page.
