The difference

Penne vs Tortiglioni

Penne is cut on the diagonal into two sharp points, with ridges running straight down the tube. Tortiglioni is cut straight across and a touch wider, and its ridges spiral around the body instead of running lengthwise. The angled ends mark penne, the winding grooves mark tortiglioni.
