The difference
Spaghettini vs Vermicelli
Both are round strands close to spaghetti, and the names do most of the confusing. Spaghettini is clearly the thinner one, milled under spaghetti for lighter sauces. Vermicelli sits right around spaghetti's gauge in Italy, though American boxes often sell it thinner. By the Italian measure, spaghettini is the slimmer strand.
