The difference

Anellini vs Stelline

Both are tiny and flat, but anellini are smooth little rings while stelline are small stars, usually with a center hole. The ring is a plain hoop, the star has points. Either one suits a clear broth, and the choice is mostly which shape you want floating in the bowl.
